Nottingham Forest are ready to go all in on Villarreal defender Pervis Estupinan as they bid to complete their squad. According to Foot Mercato, the player could finally rock up at the City Ground in a deal worth £18 million.
Estupinan was instrumental during 2021/22 as Villarreal defied the odds. Unai Emery’s team reached the semi-finals of the Champions League knocking out Bayern Munich and Juventus before losing to Liverpool in the last four.
The speedy left-sided wing-back made 40 appearances; with 10 coming in the Champions League and 27 in La Liga. He registered two assists for his team.
Now, Emery is looking to sell the player. Villarreal signed the 24-year-old from Watford in 2020 and gave him a whopping seven-year contract.
Forest are in the market for a new wing-back. Omar Richards has suffered a leg fracture, leaving Harry Toffolo as the only option on the left.
Estupinan has a wealth of experience. He’s made appearances for Osasuna, Mallorca, Almeria and Udinese during his career. He’s also played 26 times for Ecuador.
Forest would dearly welcome a player like Estupinan. He’s quick, creative and would represent a well-rounded option on the left.
Forest ready bid for Pervis Estupinan
This is definitely a deal that Forest should look to complete as quickly as possible. He’s a fantastic talent and in the coming weeks, he may have other clubs looking at him.
Estupinan would be signed by the Reds ahead of his best years and at £18 million he would represent brilliant value for money.
Richards picking up an unfortunate injury has forced Forest’s hand. Ultimately, they wouldn’t be targeting another option on the left had he stayed fit.
Estupinan is an international player and he could add something to the Forest ranks that they don’t currently have in their squad.
Steve Cooper will be hoping to see the club get this deal over the line!
