Former Nottingham Forest striker David Johnson has lauded Reds stars Dean Henderson and Neco Williams. The duo helped the Reds claim their first Premier League win yesterday, with Steve Cooper’s team running out 1-0 winners.

Johnson was once again in attendance to watch Brennan in action. Things haven’t quite got going for the ex-striker’s son; although he did have a goal ruled out for offside against the Hammers.

The win owed a lot to Henderson. The goalkeeper on loan from Manchester United saved a Declan Rice penalty and also made a remarkable stop from Tomas Soucek just after half-time.

Forest supporters also enjoyed the performance of Williams. He joined on a permanent deal from Liverpool in the summer, with the Reds forking out £17 million to secure his services.

The Reds won the game courtesy of a goal from Taiwo Awoniyi. It was the first time the Nigerian has found the net for his new club and Steve Cooper will hope his striker can score plenty this season.

Forest travel to Everton next weekend. Now, they head to Goodison Park with all the pressure on the home side who have failed to pick up a point so far during the 2022/23 campaign.

Reds stars lauded by Johnson

The man who used to score goals frequently for Forest knows a good player when he sees one. After finishing his playing career, he actually did some scouting and worked for Chelsea at one point.

Williams and Henderson look like useful additions. The pair were excellent yesterday and although Williams struggled a bit at Newcastle, Henderson was outstanding there too.

Forest will need these proven performers this season. The immediate priority will be to avoid relegation back to the Championship and hopefully, the Reds can make a brave fight.

Both Williams and Henderson will likely be integral this season. Both will be the first choice in their respective positions and will get plenty of game time during 2022/23.

More performances of this nature will definitely help the Reds in their quest to finish as high up the division as possible.
