It’s been claimed by L’Equipe that Nottingham Forest have submitted an offer to Aster Vranckx. Lille are now interested, however, with no agreement in place for him to head to the City Ground.

The Reds have been busy during the transfer window. So far, Steve Cooper has signed 16 new players and there are no signs that the squad rebuild is finished just yet.

Vranckx currently plays in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg. The 19-year-old has played 29 times for the club, scoring twice but he now looks set to leave the club.

The player was linked with Forest earlier this summer. He typically operates in the central midfield area and has previously performed attacking and defensive duties.

Vranckx seems set to leave Wolfsburg before the transfer window closes. Now, with Lille interested he could have some help making his mind up, with the Ligue 1 outfit holding ambitious plans.

It would seem unlikely for Forest to sign another central midfielder. This weekend alone Remo Freuler and Cheikhou Kouyate have been signed, with Lewis O’Brien and Orel Mangala playing brilliantly well yesterday.

Vranckx could therefore head to Lille or Fiorentina. It seems likely that he would play more senior football there and perhaps he will pass on the Premier League opportunity.

Offer submitted by Forest for Vranckx

It’s hard to imagine the Reds signing Vranckx now. The only plausible option is that he signs now and then head straight out on loan; possibly to one of the other clubs currently vying to take him.

The Reds have already been busy this summer. As a result, any other players added are likely to be ones that will come in and bolster the ranks, rather than players with one eye on the future.

Forest are always on the lookout for quality. Ultimately, the Reds still have work to do this summer but it now seems highly unlikely that Vranckx will be coming to the club before the window closes.
