Nottingham Forest have finally secured a deal with Wolves to sign Morgan Gibbs-White.

The player is set for a medical later today and some details over the structure of the deal have emerged.

Forest have chased the England under-21 international all summer, with Steve Cooper viewing him as his number one target.

Gibbs-White has started both of Wolves’ games this season, with Bruno Lage wanting to keep him.

Ultimately, the bigger picture has been looked at and the Premier League club have opted to cash in.

The 22-year-old attacker had refused to sign a new deal and that has forced the club into acting immediately.

It’s a case of fourth time lucky for Forest who had seen three bids rejected earlier this summer.

Some headlines had suggested that the Reds would be forking out £44.5 million for Gibbs-White but that is somewhat wide of the mark.

The Athletic journalist David Ornstein is a source to take as gospel and he’s posted the structure on Twitter.

Wolves will receive a guaranteed £25 million from Forest as an upfront payment.

The Molineux club will then likely pay another £7 million to £10 million in realistic add-ons.

It’s claimed that there are other clauses in the deal but they’re not believed to be realistic at this stage.

This looks like a decent bit of business from a Forest perspective.

The Reds have waited all summer for this deal and people really need to read articles over headlines.

Plenty will go with the sensationalist £44.5 million valuation but ultimately Forest have got a good deal.

Spending £25 million is about the going rate for someone with Gibbs-White’s potential and a British player.

There are always premiums placed on players from these shores and crucially Cooper wanted this deal.

Forest’s spending does look to be drawing to a close now with Gibbs-White at the tip of the iceberg.

Hopefully, his medical will run smoothly and Forest will be able to call upon the youngster very shortly.
