Nottingham Forest defender Steve Cook has heaped praise on Dean Henderson for his heroics against Everton on Saturday.

The goalkeeper atoned for a minor error with a superb late save to deny Anthony Gordon a last-gasp winner.

Henderson has been brilliant for the Reds since checking in from Manchester United this summer.

He was cruelly denied a second successive clean sheet with Demarai Gray scored with two minutes remaining.

A long ball over the top by Jordan Pickford caught Henderson out and the forward slipped an equaliser under the stopper.

Still, the one-cap England man did make some strong stops once again and he looks a very shrewd signing.

Cook thinks that Forest are lucky to have him and has even suggested Manchester United should have kept him.

He told The Mirror (Print Edition; 22/08; page 13 of football pullout): “I can only speak on what I’m seeing, so yeah, definitely. The character he’s got will be a huge loss in the Manchester United dressing room.

“Deano is a top goalkeeper. He’s played a very high standard of football and he’s come in and imposed himself.

“His character is huge, he’s added a lot to the changing room. We are just delighted to have him with us. It’s brilliant.”

Cook gives praise to Henderson and he’s already proving a wonderful signing

The Forest defender made his first Premier League start during Saturday’s draw at Everton.

He was steady throughout and Henderson was perhaps unfortunate not to keep a clean sheet.

The goal will probably be credited as a small error on his part but in fairness, it all happened so fast.

Without the 25-year-old, the Reds could have found themselves on the losing side of the result and for that Henderson should be thanked.

Forest look to have hit the jackpot with the Manchester United man. Indeed, given their plight, they could have done with keeping him.

Henderson will be a massive player for the Reds this season and he already looks a superb addition to the squad.
