Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has claimed that Japhet Tanganga would prefer to join AC Milan over Nottingham Forest this summer.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the versatile defender over the past few days.

Forest are still trying to finalise their squad and another defender will definitely be on the radar.

Tanganga has been the subject of a £13.75 million bid from Forest, although Tottenham are holding out for £17 million.

Forest have a number of defensive irons in the fire and they might have to move on from the 23-year-old.

Tanganga appears to have his heart set on a move to the San Siro giants and looks prepared to wait.

Forest currently see the defender as too expensive anyway and perhaps they already have other targets.

Still, Tanganga would have been an amazing signing given his speed and his ability to play anywhere in defence.

The player was once called ‘amazing’ by Jose Mourinho and the player looks set for a very bright future.

Tanganga has fallen down the pecking order under Antonio Conte and he’s free to leave this summer.

Tanganga would prefer AC Milan over Forest

It’s no surprise to hear that the Tottenham player would prefer the chance to play for one of European football’s top clubs.

Forest have shown some ambition this summer but they have some way to go in order to compete with AC Milan.

It’s hard to knock Tanganga for wanting to head to the Serie A club and Forest might have to look elsewhere.

There would be cons with signing the defender. Over recent years, he’s been unavailable a lot of the time due to a number of injury issues.

Still, the pros probably do outweigh the cons and perhaps Forest will be disappointed with the £25,000-a-week Tanganga’s stance.
