Nottingham Forest are working against the clock to try and sign Real Madrid defender Alvaro Odriozola before tonight’s deadline, according to Marca, via Sport Witness.
The Real Madrid man was linked with a move to the City Ground earlier this summer and even missed training on one occasion to try and force a move.
Odriozola typically operates as a right-sided wing-back and he transferred to Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2018.
He was initially sent on loan to Bayern Munich but in Germany, he played just five times for the champions.
He’s also failed to hold down a regular place in the Madrid team, featuring just 43 times for the club.
During his time at the Bernabeu, he’s scored three goals and laid on a further 10 in the way of assists.
The fact that Odriozola is on Forest’s radar is certainly an exciting link, although the fact he’s a right-back is perhaps strange.
Steve Cooper has signed Neco Williams from Liverpool and he’s enjoyed two good performances so far.
There will be competition for his place required though and with Serge Aurier not yet over the line, perhaps Forest are looking elsewhere.
Forest working to sign Alvaro Odriozola
This one won’t be easy to get over the line.
It seems as though Forest are showing some ambition though, with the report claiming that Forest have offered him a huge contract worth more money than he gets at the Bernabeu.
He earns £105,000-a-week in Spain and it’s hard to imagine Forest paying over that figure.
Still, if the Reds could get a deal over the line, it would leave them well-stocked in the right-sided wing-back position.
Landing him could prove tricky, with Inter still active in the case and perhaps Forest would be getting a coup if they can secure a deal.
