Aster Vranckx has told Sempre Milan why he decided to sign for AC Milan over Nottingham Forest during the summer.

The midfield player was linked with a move to the City Ground but ended up signing terms with the Serie A giants.

Forest were very keen to bolster their midfield ranks during the transfer window and did well in the end.

Lewis O’Brien, Orel Mangala, Remo Freuler and Cheikhou Kouyate were all added to the squad during the close season.

Vranckx might prove to be one that slipped through the net and he’s been discussing why he signed for the Italian outfit.

He told Sempre Milan: “I had to look for a solution and I liked the Milan project a lot. They work with a lot of young players and they immediately showed me that they really want to give me opportunities.”

Vranckx hasn’t received many opportunities so far during the 2022/23 campaign.

He has played just 12 minutes in Serie A and perhaps he will be a peripheral figure throughout this season.

The Reds needed midfield options to make an impact in the here and now which perhaps says why they didn’t pursue Vranckx.

Ultimately, the club did some good business in the midfield area and the 10-year-old looks like one for the future.

As a result, he clearly has talent but it would have been a risky signing for Forest to make ahead of their maiden season back in the Premier League.

Vranckx won’t have long to prove himself. He is only on loan and AC Milan will have no qualms about not signing him permanently.

The player could be one for Forest to keep their eye on over the next few months.
