Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Jamil Siebert but Viktoria Koln head coach Olaf Janssen is relaxed about the situation, he’s told Kicker.

The Reds are set to rival Leicester and Roma for the central defender. It would appear that nothing will be done until the summer though.

Siebert joined Koln during the summer transfer window on a season-long loan from Fortuna Dusseldorf.

That deal cannot be broken in January and that could see potential suitors for the player faced with playing a waiting game.

Janssen has eased the concerns of Viktoria Koln fans by claiming that he’s very relaxed about the situation.

He told Kicker: “Jamil is under contract with us until the summer. I’m not going to worry about it now.”

Forest’s recruitment team will likely continue to track Siebert during the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.

He is playing in the lower leagues of the German pyramid but clearly, Dusseldorf see that as an ideal club for his development.

It does seem likely that he will be set for bigger things though; with Forest, Roma and Leicester all keen on his services.

The 6ft 3in defender is a wanted man and Forest will hope they can win the race for his signature in the future.

Forest keen on signing Siebert

This isn’t a deal that made a great deal of sense from a Forest perspective in the here and now anyway.

As a result, it won’t faze Forest that they might not be able to get him to the City Ground until the summer.

The Reds will definitely pursue a central defender in the summer but they may look for someone with Premier League experience.

Siebert would definitely be a player with a huge ceiling and someone who could ultimately shine in the future.

Viktoria boss Janssen is very relaxed over the situation and Forest should be too.

A bidding war could take place during the summer transfer window and it looks likely that Forest will participate.
