With the transfer window opening next week, Seat Pitch rounds up the top five rumours ahead of Sky Sports News‘ favourite time of the year… Let’s be clear, there’s no factual basis in these; although some, of course, could be true.
1. Chris Gunter
Linked with Fulham, Blackburn and Norwich, the Welsh international right-back will go for £2.5m if Forest get their way. Both the Sun and the Daily Mail report that Norwich have had two bids knocked back.
2. Ishmael Miller
Tony Mowbray signed Miller when he was managing West Brom and, by all accounts, remains a fan. Both Sky Sports and the Daily Mail believe Middlesbrough will bid for the £1m-rated striker if Marvin Emnes moves to either Wolves or Swansea.
3. Wes Morgan
Out of contract in the summer and “refusing to extend”, Morgan’s been linked to Reading and Cardiff by the Daily Mirror which reports the centre-half could leave for just £250,000.
5. Lewis McGugan
It’s been quiet this week but there was a flurry of interest in McGugan earlier in the month. Linked with a move to Newcastle last summer, suitors during this window include Everton with a value of just £1.5m according to the Daily Mirror.
The good news…
Greg Cunningham will ensure Forest have a left-back for the rest of the campaign after extending his loan from Manchester City. And striker Marlon Harewood is returning to the City Ground until the end of the season.
