Kuwaiti goalkeeper Khalid Al Rashidi has received a work permit from the FA and will sign for Nottingham Forest, according to chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi.
Al Rashidi, along with two other Kuwaiti players, failed to gain a work permit in August following a trial with the club. An appeal was expected to be made in December and it appears that neither Hussain Fadel nor Bader Al Mutawa were successful.
Al Hasawi said: “I would like to thank the FA tribunal for reaching a positive outcome for the club and for Khalid. He is excited about the prospect of becoming the first Kuwaiti to play in English football and helping to spread the name of Nottingham Forest in Kuwait.”
Alex McLeish told Lee Camp last week that “he could speak to his agent about finding another club”. However, McLeish was believed to making enquiries about QPR’s Robert Green, Blackburn’s Paul Robinson and Arsenal’s Lukasz Fabianski.
Al Rashidi has been capped more than 30 times by Kuwait and will join from Al Arabi.
