As widely reported, Nottingham Forest have confirmed that Billy Davies has been sacked as manager of the club following the 5-0 defeat by Derby County

Neil Warnock is set to be appointed on an interim basis until the end of the season, joined by Keith Curle and Ronnie Jepson as his assistants.

Warnock has been out of work after being sacked by Leeds United in April 2013 and will be hoping to add an eighth promotion to his CV.

The drubbing at the iPro Stadium appears to have been the final straw for owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi, and many fans, as Davies refused to acknowledge the away support or attend the post-match press conference.

His FA hearing to appeal against his five-match touchline ban is believed to have been today after it was postponed from last Wednesday due to ‘personal reasons’.

Davies’ increasingly erratic behaviour overshadowed the injury crisis and it is understood that he clashed with Al-Hasawi over the club’s transfer policy. The Scotsman only extended his contract until June 2017 in October last year.

After slipping out of the play-off places at the weekend, Warnock is expected to receive a huge promotion bonus if he can guide the club back to the Premier League.
