Chelsea right-back Todd Kane has joined Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season

The 21-year-old was recalled by the London club on Tuesday following a loan spell at Steve Cotterill’s Bristol City, where he made seven appearances.

Stuart Pearce’s squad needed some defensive strengthening following Jack Hunt’s return to Crystal Palace after his loan spell ended and Dan Harding’s loan move to Millwall until the end of the season.

Kane spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, having been at the Lancashire club for the second half of the 2012-13 season, following a short loan at Preston North End.

The Huntingdon-born player joined Chelsea as an Under-8 and has earned England Under-21 recognition. He was part of Chelsea’s Under-18 side which won the FA Youth Cup in 2012 and has also captained their Under-21s.

Kane is also adept at centre-back and left-back.
