Nottingham Forest earned a share of the spoils as they drew 5-5 with Aston Villa in a pulsating game at Villa Park.

The Reds were two to the good after six minutes with Lewis Grabban and Joao Carvalho handing Forest the early initiative.

Tammy Abraham then scored two typically composed goals to draw Villa level, before Reds winger Matty Cash made it five goals in the first 22 minutes.

Villa weren’t to be denied parity at the break, however, with Abraham completing his hat-trick from the spot; Jack Robinson needlessly hacking down Yannick Bolasie.

Lifelong Villa supporter Joe Lolley was next to get in on the act for Forest; smashing his side in front with a luscious hit from way outside the penalty area.

The dismissal of Tobias Figueiredo would turn the game on its head in the 68th minute. The resulting free-kick saw Abraham net his fourth of the evening; with Anwar El-Ghazi putting Villa in the lead for the first time four minutes later.

It was former Villa loan star Grabban who would have the last laugh, however; the in-form talisman pouncing on some shoddy defending to send the away end into pandemonium.

Aitor Karanka’s men stretch their unbeaten run in the Championship to six games, ahead of Saturday’s game with basement boys Ipswich Town.

Seat Pitch was on hand following the game at Villa Park to rate the Forest performance as follows…

Costel Pantilimon 4 – Poor night at the office for the Romanian stopper. At fault for the second goal where he let John McGinn’s effort spill out.

Tendayi Darikwa  6 – Solid, if unspectacular from the Zimbabwe international. Made a couple of first-half errors which he was fortunate to get away with.

Michael Dawson 7 – If nothing else Dawson shows a lot of heart. On several occasions, he threw his uncompromising figure in the way of dangerous balls.

Tobias Figueiredo 5 – A rush of blood from the Portuguese defender almost cost Forest anything from the contest. A real shame he will now serve a suspension as he has been immense recently.

Jack Robinson 4 – Probably the ex-Liverpool player’s worst performance in a Forest shirt. Was given a torrid time by Yannick Bolasie and gave away the brainless penalty in the first half.

Jack Colback 8 – Getting better with each game. Showed a lot of energy, guile and determination in the middle of the park, keeping Jack Grealish quiet for large parts of the game.

Claudio Yacob 7 – A real warrior-like performance from the Argentinean midfielder. Yacob is showing with each game what an important player he can become to the current Forest team.

Matty Cash 7 – Thoroughly deserved his goal on a night where he worked tirelessly down both flanks. Can’t be knocked on this showing, did everything that was expected of him.

Joao Carvalho 8 – A superb performance from the magician. The Portugal u21 international made James Chester look foolish for his goal and was a brilliant outlet going forward for the Reds.

Joe Lolley 10 Seat Pitch Star Man – Four assists and a goal worthy of winning any game of football. Forest had to settle for a point on this occasion but Lolley’s performance was a joy to behold; with his goal set to grace highlight reels for years to come.

Lewis Grabban 8 – Grabban scored the first goal and the tenth in this remarkable game of football. The 30-year-old is oozing confidence right now and looks worth every bit of the £6 million paid during the summer.
