PETER SHILTON
The ultimate Forest keeper? It’s difficult to argue against that, given the remarkable success enjoyed by England’s all-time leading appearance maker during his time on Trentside.
Snapped up from Stoke for just £250,000 in September 1977, Shilton would prove to be the most reliable of last lines of defence as Brian Clough’s iconic side tasted First Division title and European Cup glory.

MARK CROSSLEY
Fell just seven games short of reaching 400 for the Reds, with a man who completed the transition from trainee to first-team stalwart spending 12 seasons at the City Ground.
‘Norm’ proved to be a popular figure on and off the pitch and will be best remembered for his penalty-saving qualities – with Matt Le Tissier’s only failure from the spot coming against Crossley.
STEVE SUTTON
Once Shilton’s understudy, Sutton (like Crossley) was an apprentice who managed to fulfil his boyhood dreams with the Reds.
A loyal servant for 13 years, the moustachioed shot-stopper made over 250 appearances – including two League Cup triumphs and two Simod/ZDS Cup wins – before returning to the club as a coach.
