Nottingham Forest travel to Pride Park this evening looking to make a hasty return to winning ways in the Championship.

The Reds were defeated for the first time in eight games by Preston North End last time out, leaving boss Aitor Karanka with plenty to ponder.

Games against the Rams have been far from fruitful in recent years.

Since Ben Osborn scored a stoppage time winner in 2015, the Reds have failed to score a single goal at the home of their rivals in three attempts.

Making the short trip along the A52 has proved seemingly problematic for the Reds in recent years and Monday night would be the perfect time to rectify recent misfortunes.

It is fair to say that Karanka will head to Derbyshire with the best squad Forest have had since their last win there and that should bode well.

Danny Fox and Michael Dawson are likely to miss out through injury and that could mean that a makeshift back four goes into battle with the Rams.

Whilst the game on Monday night is a nice one to win for the supporters, it is worth nothing that the result won’t define the season.

Win and Forest will still have work to do if they are to secure promotion. Losing to the Rams again would sting, as it always does, but it wouldn’t completely extinguish the chances of reaching the top flight.

Karanka’s men have shown tremendous character already this season and you wouldn’t back against such resilience coming to the fore in one of the biggest games of the campaign so far.

Unlike previous years, the Reds now boast attacking talent that is the envy of the division and Karanka will be hoping to outscore the opposition this evening.
