Eyebrows were raised back in August when Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka sanctioned the departure of talented youngster Ben Brereton.

The striker joined Blackburn Rovers on loan and will make the move permanent next month in a deal worth £7 million.

The 19-year-old netted nine goals from 57 games after emerging from the Forest academy; with some fans disappointed that he was allowed to leave earlier in the season.

Tough start at pastures new

It would appear that Brereton isn’t exactly adhering himself to supporters of his new club with some feeling shortchanged by the deal.

Yesterday, Rovers were defeated 1-0 by Norwich City and following a 17-minute cameo, fans vented their frustration at the forward on Twitter.

Brereton is yet to score in 17 appearances for Tony Mowbray’s side and has largely been used as a substitute.

For those of a Forest persuasion, the frustration perhaps came out of the sale of a player who has yet to reach full potential.

The forward often played out wide for Forest and although he usually looked lively it is fair to say that he was somewhat erratic in front of goal.

Aside from one epic performance against Arsenal in the FA Cup last season it is a bit of a struggle to think of another occasion where he made much of an impact for the Reds.

On his current form at Ewood Park, it seems as though the Reds boss is being proved right to cash in on Brereton.

After another poor showing at the weekend, Seat Pitch rounded up exactly what the Rovers faithful were saying about the youngster.
