With the countdown to Christmas well and truly on, Seat Pitch brings you a unique take on the customary advent calendar with a Nottingham Forest twist.

We have 25 doors to open, with familiar faces from the present and past waiting behind each one (sorry, no chocolate).

At the end of the year, we will then compile the ultimate Reds squad made up of those voted into each number. You can have your say by getting involved with our daily Twitter polls.

Let’s keep things rolling with door No. 23:

JOE LOLLEY

Given the standards he has set this season, it is remarkable to think that Forest snapped up Lolley from Huddersfield for just £500,000 during the January transfer window of 2018.

His work ethic and technical ability had never been doubt, but he has showcased a penchant for the spectacular this term – with his personal showreel including some stunning strikes.

Initially linked up with the Reds on loan from QPR in January 2009, but would go on to spend the longest and most productive period of his career at the City Ground.

The languid frontman took in 187 appearances for Forest, recording 45 goals, but was never quite the same player after suffering a serious knee injury in 2010 which kept him out of action for 12 months.

Fondly remembered on the banks of the Trent for having helped Forest to end a humbling three-year spell in League One.

Finished as the Reds’ top scorer, with 13 goals to his name, as Colin Calderwood’s side secured promotion back to the Championship in 2007/08.

Would you prefer to see somebody else fill the No. 23 spot – Eugen Bopp, Gareth Williams? Let us know your selection in the comment box below or reply to the Twitter poll – which can be found here.
