Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Luke Steele has rubbished speculation linking him with a move to Olympiacos on social media.

According to reports in Greece, the 34-year-old was set to join the Greek Super League side, also owned by Evangelos Marinakis.

However, he was quick to announce on his own social media account that this was in fact not the case.

Steele has only made five appearances for the Reds since arriving at the City Ground in the summer.

He does have previous experience of playing in Greece, having enjoyed a three-year spell with Panathinaikos.

Will Steele be moved on this month?

There is no doubt that Steele will be frustrated by his lack of game time with the Reds.

All of his five appearances so far have come in cup competitions, with the latest coming in the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea in the FA Cup on Saturday.

He produced an impressive performance which saw him deny Cesc Fàbregas from the penalty spot.

As a result, many supporters believe he deserves a chance to start against Reading at the weekend.

However, Aitor Karanka’s comments this week have suggested that Costel Pantilimon will return to the starting line-up.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post, the Spaniard said: “Yes, it was a good performance. Costel is also playing good – but now we know that, with Luke, we have another good alternative.

“He saved the penalty, which is good for him, but also good for everyone else.

“Luke knew that he was going to play and Costel was out of the squad because he needed a rest; he was just having a break.”

Considering that Forest have been linked with Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton recently, a move for Steele would somewhat make sense.

In this case, his earlier post on social media does not rule out a potential move somewhere other than Greece.

After his announcement on social media, Seat Pitch rounded up exactly what Reds supporters had to say about Steele’s response to the speculation.
