Nottingham Forest have today confirmed the appointment of Martin O’Neill as the club’s new manager.
It was announced on the club’s official site that the 66-year-old has replaced Aitor Karanka, just a few days after the Spaniard’s departure.
The Northern Irishman is undoubtedly a popular figure at the City Ground.
He made 317 appearances for the Reds in a highly successful 10-year-spell at the club. Coupled with his vast experience in management, it is easy to see why his appointment has generated excitement.
However, there are some supporters who have major doubts.

Is O’Neill the right man for the job?
O’Neill is going to be under a significant amount of pressure from the get-go. In this case, he does have the opportunity to make a strong start. Home games against Bristol City and Wigan provide an opportunity to gain maximum points.
The experienced manager will be fully aware of what is expected of him. Evangelos Marinakis wants the Reds to challenge for promotion to the Premier League this season.
It isn’t normal for a manager to come into a club sat just four points off the play-offs.

O’Neill’s last job in club football came at Sunderland, arguably his most disappointing managerial venture.
He kept the Black Cats in the Premier League in his first season, but he was sacked the following year after a poor run.
Some supporters have doubts over whether he still has what it takes to be a success at this level.
After it was revealed yesterday that O’Neill would be taking over, Seat Pitch rounded up exactly what Reds supporters had to say.
