Blackburn Rovers announced the signing of Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton on a permanent basis earlier this month.
The Reds are believed to have received around £7 million for his services.
However, Brereton has struggled to make an impact since making the move to Ewood Park.
He has done little to prove that he is worth such a hefty price tag.
It remains to be seen whether Brereton is able to turn his form around, but Rovers fans are beginning to lose faith in the youngster.
Brereton fails to impress in rare start
Brereton was given a rare place in the starting line-up for Blackburn’s FA Cup replay against Newcastle last night.
He wasn’t able to take advantage of the opportunity. Having missed a fantastic chance shortly after half-time, he was ultimately substituted after 65 minutes.
It was another poor performance from the youngster, and his confidence must be at an all time low.
This means that he has now made 19 appearances so far this season, failing to score a single goal.
Allowing Brereton to leave for around £7 million may well turn out to be Forest’s best piece of business this month.
After another disappointing display from Brereton, Seat Pitch rounded up exactly what Blackburn fans had to say about the striker.
Can Brereton turn it around at Blackburn?
Don’t get me wrong, I really want the kid to succeed & make a name for himself but I just don’t see any positives in Brereton’s play. His movement & positioning is poor, as is his first touch 😳

For a big lad, Brereton doesn’t half duck out of a 50/50… get that toe in, son! #rovers

I really think Brereton should have a stint in the U23’s for a while like Nuttall, to get some goals and build his confidence.

We’re all willing him to do well but absolutely nothing Brereton does is good. I think you could genuinely stick a fan on in his place and he wouldn’t be much worse tonight #rovers

Ben Brereton rivalling Corrado Grabbi as the worst #rovers striker of all time. He’s sensationally bad.

Seriously 8million for Brereton? Every time I watch him play he gets worse. I would question a fee of 800k never mind 8million

Am I the only one who think Brereton has looked ok? Quite tidy on the ball. Should have scored but hard on the volley.

Think Brereton needs a loan to league one personally, needs goals

I know he’s only 19 but it’s very difficult to see what we saw in Brereton. Touch isn’t great and is cumbersome on the ball. These are things that should come naturally, though maybe lacking confidence . Will always give benefit of the doubt to Mowbray. #Rovers
