His stunning performances in October earned him the PFA Player of the Month accolade.

The news will come as a pleasant surprise to Forest supporters who were starting to fear that Lolley might leave.

The Sun reported recently that boyhood club Aston Villa were considering a £12 million summer swoop.

Martin O’Neill clearly wants to build a team around Lolley and is delighted to have tied him down to a new deal.

The boss told the Nottingham Post: “In the couple of weeks we have been here, he has been a match-winner. He is a proper player and he wants to do well.

“I am delighted. This was, in fairness, something that the club were working on before I arrived. But I would certainly have verified the decision.”

This news has naturally delighted the club’s loyal supporters who have taken to Twitter.
