After a slow start, our visitors this weekend have been in fine form, winning three of their last four games.
Ahead of the contest, we spoke to Daniel Jordan from the Footballing Minds podcast, who gave us the lowdown on Hull City…
Seat Pitch: When we last played you, you sat inside the bottom three of the division. Was there always a sense that things would change?
Daniel Jordan: I’m not going to lie I think after the first couple of months of the season a lot of Hull City fans was expecting the worse. There was a lot of talk of relegation, the team not being good enough and hatred of the owners was at its peak. That Nottingham Forest game at the KCOM summarised the start of our season, it wasn’t the first time a team had come to the KCOM and dominated the game, luckily that was the last defeat for a while for us.
SP: Tell us about Nigel Adkins, he seems like a positive chap?
DJ: Let’s be honest Adkins is one of the nicest guys in football. He always sees the positives and I think that was grating on Hull supporters at the beginning of the season when we were struggling but now we’ve hit a bit of form he’s easily a fans favorite. He’s the Championship’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

SP: Are you convinced that he’s the right man for the job?
DJ: He’s done an amazing job under the circumstances. Anybody who can work under our owner deserves plenty of credit in my book. For a recently relegated Premier League team he’s working on a shoestring. In my eyes and a lot of Hull City fans he’s 100% the guy to take us forward.
SP: Who do we need to look out for today?
DJ: Well, we’ve got the magnificent duo of Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki whos form has been unbelievable for most of the season but one to watch out for today is Marc Pugh. Very much like Harry Wilson for us last season. He’s come in on loan from Bournemouth and has hit the ground running. He’s my bet to grab a goal today.

SP: Eric Lichaj is now at the KCOM Stadium, how’s he getting on?
DJ: Eric Lichaj has probably been one of the most consistent players for us this season, we’ve had plenty of injuries in defense but he’s been a constant for us which we have really needed. I was quite surprised when Forest let him go, to be honest. He’s turned out to be one of the leaders in our team in a very short period of time.
SP: What do you know about Forest?
DJ: Forest are one of the sleeping giants in the Championship, aren’t they? Very much like a Sheffield United or a Blackburn. I mean you guys were European Champions back in the day. I’ve been to the City Ground a couple of times and you seem to have a cracking fan base. I think a little bit of backing and you could be back in the big time.
SP: Which of our current squad would you love to see in a Hull shirt?
DJ: I would 100% have Lewis Grabban. His goalscoring record in the Championship is right up there, you’ve done well to get him in. Always been a fan of Ben Watson too. He’s an absolute workhorse who knows the game inside out. Obviously, we would also have captain fantastic back, Sir Michael Dawson.

SP: Finally, what will the score be?
DJ: I’m going for 2-1 win for Hull City, it’s going to be a belting game. Whoever wins will have a great chance of reaching the play-offs. We’ve won the last five at your ground as well so that bodes well for us!
