Nottingham Forest’s stretch of consecutive home wins ended at four as Aston Villa ran out 3-1 winners at the City Ground.

The Reds took an early lead through Jack Colback but went in behind at the break thanks to a brace from John McGinn.

It wasn’t a bad night for Martin O’Neill’s men in terms of other results. They will travel to Ipswich Town on Saturday just three points off sixth.

In truth, Dean Smith’s Villa side were just better than the Reds.

After a sluggish start they begin to grow into the game, scoring at crucial periods in the contest.

For Forest, it’s a case of back to the drawing board and as remarkable as it might be they still have a chance of the play-offs.

Joe Lolley was instrumental for Forest once again against Villa.

After claiming four assists and a goal in the 5-5 draw earlier in the season, his delightful footwork carved the opening for Colback to score.

Forest fans are quickly running out of superlatives for their flying winger and took to social media to speak of his performance.

Seat Pitch rounded up what many Forest fans had to say about Lolley’s performance despite the defeat.
