Nottingham Forest take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road this afternoon in another crucial game in the play-off race.

The Reds will be looking to end their winless run away from home, whilst Paul Lambert’s Ipswich will be looking to restore some pride.

The reverse fixture ended 2-0 to the Reds at the City Ground earlier in the campaign, but will be remembered for Aitor Karanka’s downbeat post-match interview.

Ahead of the game, Seat Pitch spoke with lifelong Ipswich supporter Josh Waters who has given us the lowdown on this afternoon’s opponents…

Seat Pitch: Where has it all gone wrong this season?

Josh Water: It has all gone wrong because Paul Hurst made too many signings at once. We sold our three best strikers in the form of David McGoldrick, Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner and replaced them with lower league strikers.

SP: How has Paul Lambert been perceived by supporters?

JW: I know Paul Lambert is an ex-Norwich manager but look at what he did with them. We need to put that behind us and support him as he’s a great manager. He has got the togetherness back in the club with the fans. We’re 13 points adrift at the bottom of the league with only 27 points left to play for. But the place is still buzzing with optimism, even though we’re certain for League One football next season.

SP: Is he the man to take you forward?

JW: One hundred percent. Lambert is the right man to take us forward. It’s going to take time with the project he wants to implement, but we’ve got such a good youth system. We have some quality players coming through such as Luke Woolfenden at Swindon Town. He’s going to be a top player. The likes of Teddy Bishop, Flynn Downes, Andre Dozzell and Jack Lankester are all also great talents.

SP: Luke Chambers is with you how is he getting on?

JW: Luke Chambers is obviously getting on now. However, the love he has for the club is incredible. If we go down next season, which is looking likely, we need to keep hold of him. Even if he doesn’t play much, we just need his voice and leadership in the dressing room. He gives so much for the club, the passion he shows is on a different planet.

SP: What do you know about Nottingham Forest?

JW: Forest are a big club with a great stadium and a great following. In my opinion, they shouldn’t be in the Championship. Ipswich and Forest are two great clubs that shouldn’t be where they are, they have been out of the Premier League for far too long and you can only blame money for this. When teams are spending big money, the likes of us don’t have a chance. Although, it can be done without spending money. You can spend millions but that doesn’t mean it’s going to take you up, look at how many times Derby County have bottled it.

SP: Which of our current squad would you love to see in blue?

JW: For me it’s got to be Daryl Murphy. I know he’s getting on now, but he did wonders for us. He holds the ball up so well and that’s something we need right now especially with Will Keane injured. He played 217 games for us, scoring 67 goals. That’s an average of a goal in every 3.2 games which isn’t bad at all.

SP: Who is your main man for us to watch?

JW: Teddy Bishop. When he’s get hold of the ball, he runs with it and can get fouled a fair bit. He’s not scared to run at defenders. He has been out for a while with a bad injury but he’s back and raring to go. He can be such a brilliant player for us.

SP: Finally, what will the score be?

JW: I’m going for a 1-1 draw with Murphy scoring for you and Kayden Jackson scoring for us.
