Nottingham Forest have already sold more than 6,000 season cards for the 2019/20 campaign, according to the Nottingham Post

The club announced on their official site that current season card holders would have the opportunity to renew towards the end of last week.

More than 1,000 were snapped up within an hour of them going on sale.

There were numerous pictures circulating on social media over the weekend of supporters queuing up at the City Ground to secure their seat for next season.

As of this morning, the Nottingham Post reported 6,004 season cards had been sold. This is a record-breaking amount. Only 268 season cards were sold on the first day of sales last season.

This suggests there is more positivity on Trentside then there was this time last season. At this stage last season, the Reds had yet to secure their survival in the Championship under the management of Aitor Karanka.

The Nottingham Post spoke to a club spokesman who has thanked the fans for their support.

He told the Post: “The club are absolutely delighted at the fans’ backing yet again.

“The true test is always in ticket sales and the fans have shown they are right behind the owner and the manager.”

Mood

It’s unknown how much the confirmation of the club’s plans to redevelop the City Ground has impacted on sales. The redevelopment is due to begin at the end of the 2019/20 campaign, which has seen season card sales capped at 20,000 for next season.

The latest season card sales figures suggest a positive outlook around the club. But this doesn’t really match up to the wave of negativity on social media.

The Reds find themselves just three points off the play-offs having been held to a draw by Ipswich Town. Despite this, a number of supporters have vented their frustrations about Martin O’Neill on social media.

There’s no doubt that some of the hashtags being used to criticise the Northern Irishman are disrespectful.

It’s clear to see why supporters are frustrated, after two disappointing results against Aston Villa and Ipswich. However, to be just three points off the play-offs with just eight games to go is an unusual position for the Reds to find themselves in.

There are many reasons to be positive moving forward.

For that reason, it isn’t surprising that supporters are continuing to show their commitment by renewing.
