Nottingham Forest academy prospect Jayden Richardson has signed a professional deal at the City Ground.

The Under-23 regular announced news of his first pro deal on his Twitter last night, saying:

The right-back made two appearances in this season’s FA Youth Cup where Forest were defeated 4-1 by Manchester City.

His performances for the Under-23 team have clearly caught the eye.

The 18-year-old helped Jimmy Gilligan’s team to the quarter-final of the Premier League Cup, where they were cruelly beaten on penalties by Swansea last week.

First-team opportunities

Martin O’Neill and his backroom staff have been regularly spotted at development squad fixtures since arriving at the club.

The manager has shown that he is not afraid to play the younger lads and it remains to be seen what the future holds for Richardson.

Forest fans love to see their own talented youngsters emerge on the first-team scene.
