Nottingham Forest striker Lewis Grabban has struggled for form since Martin O’Neill’s arrival.

He certainly isn’t the only one. The £6 million signing has scored just twice under the Northern Irishman so far.

Club legend Kenny Burns has recently spoken in the Nottingham Post about the striker’s future. He wouldn’t be surprised to see the former AFC Bournemouth striker leave in the summer, which could see the Reds make a significant loss.

The two-time European Cup winner said: “Martin O’Neill is the one who makes the decisions, but, for me, Grabban needs to show in the last four games that he wants to still be here next season.

“He needs to show a bit more passion and prove that he deserves to stay.

“But whether we end up letting Grabban go or not – and personally, I would maybe think about moving him on – we desperately need a couple of strikers in the summer. We need a goal scorer.”

It’s difficult to predict exactly how this situation will play out over the summer. The club’s hierarchy is unlikely to want to sell a player who performed so well under previous manager Aitor Karanka. It has been a long time since the Reds had a player reach the 20-goal mark, but Grabban could still yet achieve that.

The 31-year-old has found it more difficult to make an impact recently because O’Neill’s style of play arguably doesn’t suit his game. There isn’t one forward player at the City Ground who has found their best form under the Northern Irishman.

‘Would be a massive mistake’, ‘Get rid ASAP’

There’s no doubt that these comments about the striker have sparked a huge debate on social media, with the large majority backing Grabban. Seat Pitch have rounded up exactly what Reds supporters are saying.
