Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has told the Motherwell Times that he hopes to keep Nottingham Forest winger Gboly Ariyibi at the club next season.
The 24-year-old will see his contract with the Reds expire during the summer and the winger is almost certain to depart.
Ariyibi scored and claimed an assist in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Dundee and Robinson hopes the American speedster will stay at the club for next season.
He told the Motherwell Times: “I thought he was excellent, especially when we went down to 10 men. It’s the first headers I have seen him win. He is a talented boy. We’re hoping to get him back next season and progress his career.”

The ex-Chesterfield winger signed for Forest back in 2017 but has never played a single game for the first team.
The Seat Pitch Verdict
It’s fair to suggest that the chances of Motherwell landing Ariyibi are pretty good. After failed loan spells with Northampton and MK Dons, his chances of earning a contract at an English club look slim.
Ariyibi will go down as one of the more bizarre transfers in recent times. He will essentially leave without having ever played for the first team and not many players can claim to have done that.

Signed as an exciting youngster from Chesterfield, it was thought that he’d get the chance to impress, but he hasn’t been in favour with any of the Forest managers in recent years.
He could have found a home for himself in Motherwell, however, and given how well he is playing it could be a decent move for all parties come the summer.
