Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers secured back-to-back homes wins against Celtic for the first time in seven years at Ibrox on Sunday.

Joe Worrall, currently on loan at Ibrox from Nottingham Forest, has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the win for Rangers against their bitter rivals in the Old Firm derby.

The 22-year-old has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Gers this season. He joined the Scottish Premier League club last summer after falling down the pecking order under Aitor Karanka.

Although he was an unused substitute in Sunday’s match, he has been a key figure for Gerrard’s side. He’s certainly set to return to the City Ground as a much more experienced player.

He could still make one more final appearance for his loan club. Rangers travel to Rugby Park next weekend to take on Kilmarnock in their final SPL outing of the season.

A number of Reds supporters have raised their excitement about Worrall’s return to the City Ground on social media:

It’ll be interesting to see how the defender fares at the City Ground next season, if he is given a chance by Martin O’Neill. The Reds are certainly well-equipped in the centre-back position.

O’Neill has Michael Dawson, Tobias Figueiredo, Michael Hefele, Alexander Milošević and Yohan Benalouane all contracted for next season. Jack Robinson can also play there as part of a back three.

Whilst Worrall has done a decent job at Rangers, the Forest boss is unlikely to consider him as one of his first choice defenders.

The Reds already have a few players who are arguably better than him, and he’ll have to show he has improved significantly to stand a chance of getting in. If he can impress over pre-season, then who knows what could happen.
