Nottingham Forest defender Michael Hefele has shared an update on his recovery from an Achilles injury.
Nottingham Forest defender Michael Hefele’s latest post on Instagram suggests he’ll be ready for the start of pre-season.
Forest defender Hefele only has a few more weeks before the start of pre-season to get himself ready. He’ll want to prove he can play a key role in Martin O’Neill’s side next season.

Hefele picked up an Achilles injury during the festive period, and has not featured for the Reds since the win against Leeds United on New Year’s Day.
However the 28-year-old, who joined the Reds on Deadline Day last summer from Huddersfield Town, appears to be ready for the start of pre-season.

And the Forest man’s latest post on social media looks very encouraging. The post’s caption reads: “Everything is under control.”
Competition
If Hefele does make it back in time for pre-season, he faces a fight to get into the starting line-up. O’Neill already has numerous centre-backs contracted for next season.
The likes of Michael Dawson, Tobias Figueiredo, Joe Worrall and Alexander Milošević are all going to be battling it out with the German for two or three places. It is one area of the pitch where the Reds have a wealth of options.

Hefele is not the only defender to have been ruled out for a large period of last season. Dawson and Figueiredo also missed the majority of the season. Sam Byram also only made a brief return at the end of the season before returning to West Ham United.
O’Neill will need all his players to stay fit next season to give the Reds the best possible chance of pushing for promotion.
