Nottingham Forest will go about strengthening his squad during the weeks building up the new football season.
A ninth-place finish last season gives the Reds a healthy foundation to build upon. With a good squad already in place, quality over quantity is required on Trentside.
A couple of stellar attractions would be just the tonic for O’Neill and the Forest supporters, as the club attempts to end a long exile away from the Premier League.
It would be nice if the Reds could attract some players boasting top-flight quality this summer.
That might prove tricky, but won’t be completely impossible.
One man who could prove a really solid addition is recently released West Ham man Adrian.
The 32-year-old has been linked with Liverpool, according to Goal. On that basis, his chances of rocking up at the City Ground look extremely remote.
Their interest isn’t concrete, however, and the club has now been linked with other goalkeepers.
Adrian wouldn’t play at Anfield though and this is where Forest could flex their ambition – finances permitting!
Costel Pantilimon improved no end during the second half of last season, although question marks remain over some aspects of his goalkeeping.
Some proper competition for his place wouldn’t go amiss and the chance to have Adrian between the posts would really make Forest’s promotion rivals stand up and take notice.
Adrian is a proven performer. In 182 career appearances, he has kept 54 clean sheets, proving an extremely popular figure among the club’s supporters.
Available on a free, the chance to sign Adrian shouldn’t be passed up by Forest, if a decent deal can be done with the player’s wages.
