Nottingham Forest boss Martin O’Neill will go in search of several new players this summer as he looks to make a charge towards promotion.
As of yet, the Reds haven’t signed a player.
Hard work will undoubtedly be taking place behind the scenes to add to the ranks, however.
Alan Hutton is reportedly on the verge of signing for Forest, according to reports from The Sun.

The right-back was released from promotion-winning Aston Villa at the end of last season and is on the lookout for a new club.
WAYNE ROONEY TO EVERTON IS A JOKE.
Hutton, 34 made 34 appearances for the Villans last season. His progress was hampered from February onwards following a hamstring injury.
Forest’s options at right-back do look somewhat restricted. Tendayi Darikwa is currently the only senior option and he is expected to miss the start of the campaign due to his involvement in the African Cup of Nations.
O’Neill had mentioned a desire to resign Sam Byram previously, but it remains to be seen whether or not a deal can be done.

It’s pretty fair to suggest that Forest fans don’t really want Hutton to arrive at the City Ground, even if he would be on a free transfer.
Several have taken to Twitter to oppose the signing.
We rounded up the best tweets in reaction to Forest’s link to Hutton:

Imagine replacing Byram with a 34 year old Alan Hutton 😂 only Forest could pull that off..

Alan Hutton 🤔An upgrade on Darikwa? Nope. An absolutely typical #nffc signing? Yup. ✅

So we’ve ditched the idea of Byram for Alan Hutton who’s 34 and had a “decent spell” back in 2012.
Give up. Dead summer ahead 🙌🏻 https://t.co/09zk9YBkES

Please don’t let the story of signing Alan Hutton be true. We need energy, hunger, pace and quality not 34 year olds.

Alan Hutton. Another average 30+ year old on the wage bill. Unless he’s signed as back up for Byram, then I just do not see the point #nffc

Alan Hutton…seriously…

Is this Alan Hutton story his son or the Dad version with 6 years on his legs since his last average spell with us ?

Alan Hutton, the Scottish Cafu

Some of our fans clearly miss the old days of League One
Alan Hutton is NOT a good signing. #NFFC

Awful signing, Alan Hutton joins our ever growing list of ageing, over the hill players. The same ambition being shown off the field (at present) seems a million miles away from what’s being shown on it #nffc
