Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Sammy Ameobi, with the winger penning a one-year deal at the City Ground.

The first summer addition to Martin O’Neill’s ranks was announced on the club’s official website.

Ameobi was a free agent following his release from crisis-club Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season.

The old-fashioned winger began his career with Newcastle United and has also spent time on loan with Middlesbrough and Cardiff City.

Ameobi boasts international honours with England and Nigeria youth sides and will bring an injection of pace and trickery to O’Neill’s ranks.

The new recruit could kick off a host of new signings, with the Reds hoping to challenge for a top-six finish during 2019/20.

Forest’s first summer signing has been met with mixed reviews.
