Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Sammy Ameobi, with the winger penning a one-year deal at the City Ground.
Ameobi was a free agent following his release from crisis-club Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season.
The old-fashioned winger began his career with Newcastle United and has also spent time on loan with Middlesbrough and Cardiff City.
Ameobi boasts international honours with England and Nigeria youth sides and will bring an injection of pace and trickery to O’Neill’s ranks.
The new recruit could kick off a host of new signings, with the Reds hoping to challenge for a top-six finish during 2019/20.
Forest’s first summer signing has been met with mixed reviews.
Some are happy that the forward has been signed on a one-year deal and are willing to give Ameobi a chance to impress on Trentside:
One year, can’t really moan at that. See how it goes. Good luck Sammy.

Only plus point it’s a 1 year deal with what would assume fairly low wages. If he is any good it’s a bonus.

Free transfer, 1 year deal, low wages = decent signing and no risk

Great bit of business that. Free agent, one year deal, prove to us you are can be consistent and you get a longer deal

Good deal all round.

Wish him the best. There’s something there, hopefully he can find his form under us.

Some of the more cynical Reds supporters are desperately underwhelmed with the latest signing.
Ameobi hasn’t set the league alight with his previous clubs and some Forest supporters are disgruntled at the new addition:
You don’t deserve to be associated with the name

Could be good, but simply isn’t. Doesn’t put in a shift
