Nottingham Forest are in a race with Leeds United to secure the services of Queens Park Rangers midfielder Massimo Luongo, according to London Football News.
The Australian is out of contract at Loftus Road next season and both Championship clubs are looking to take advantage of the situation.
Luongo is unlikely to pen a new deal with the R’s due to the current wage structure in place and that could mean a sale is inevitable this summer.
Bizarrely, Mark Warburton tried to sign Luongo when he was in charge at the City Ground, but could now be tasked with offloading him as he shapes his own squad ahead of the new campaign.

A very useful defence-minded midfielder, Luongo has played 145 Championship games during his four years at Loftus Road, netting 10 goals.
Reds’ boss Martin O’Neill has already added one player to his ranks in Sammy Ameobi, with more almost certain to follow.
Seat Pitch Summary
Amid some pretty average links so far this summer, Luongo would represent some pretty steady business by Forest.

Given his contract situation and uncertainty over Jack Colback’s return to the City Ground, Luongo’s arrival would make sense.
Most Reds supporters will hope that a deal can be struck that sees Colback sign for Forest, but contingency plans need drawing up regardless.

The 26-year-old is a proven Championship performer and would compliment the Forest squad considerably.
With QPR not wanting to lose their player on a free next summer they will need to sell this summer really.
The choice between Leeds and Forest would give him two sizeable clubs to choose from.
If O’Neill can convince him that the City Ground is the place to be, Forest would complete a quality summer addition to their ranks.
