How does the sound of “quite attractive football” at Nottingham Forest strike you?

That’s probably fair.

Sabri Lamouchi has, however, been given that billing upon taking the reins at the City Ground.

The more pessimistic/cheeky will suggest that ‘quite attractive’ is a step in the right direction.

The hope will, however, be for much more than that.

Let’s remove ‘quite’ and start from there.

Lamouchi knows what is expected of him.

He has already talked up the history of the club and the expectation which accompanies a role in the Reds’ dugout.

If the Premier League is to be aimed at, then Forest need to tread that path with swagger.

Nobody is going to give them anything.

Passion and performances are required from this point.

Preferably with plenty to get excited about along the way.

French football expert Julien Laurens has told Radio 5 Live of the new Forest boss: “He is someone who is very demanding with his own players, who plays quite attractive football, even though he is quite pragmatic in how he wants his teams to play.”

Pragmatic can be a positive.

Considered is better than carefree.

Forest are forever striving to strike that balance.

“His man management is very good, it is one of Sabri Lamouchi’s assets, and then he will work hard, that is for sure,” Laurens added.

“He will work hard and it will take him some time. It is a very difficult and long league, but I think it is an interesting choice.”

‘Interesting’ is another word that can be taken in a number of different ways.

Former Rennes boss Lamouchi also doesn’t have a lot of time in which to adjust to his surroundings.

Forest need to hit the ground running.

Especially with the fixture computer having done them few favours.

An English football novice is being thrown in at the deep end.

He is going to either sink or swim.

Hopefully he rises to the surface quickly.

With his ‘quite attractive’ brand of football proving to be more than enough for life in the Championship.
