Nottingham Forest completed the signing of Tiago Silva last week, as he joined from Feirense on a two-year deal.

The 26-year-old midfielder became Sabri Lamouchi’s first signing since he took over from Martin O’Neill.

The only new signing to arrive at the City Ground prior to the Northern Irishman’s dismissal was Sammy Ameobi.

Silva, who has previously featured for Portugal’s Under-21 side, has sent an Instagram message outlining his excitement over joining the Reds.

There’s no doubt that another technically gifted attack-minded midfielder was needed. Silva may not be as attack-minded as João Carvalho, but he will certainly add quality to the side.

At this stage, the fee that the Reds have paid for Silva is unknown. However, as he has only signed a two-year deal, there is little risk involved. It’s easy to see why there are some doubts from some of the club’s supporters though.

There was a similar level of excitement surrounding the arrival of Diogo Gonçalves and Gil Dias last summer. However, they weren’t able to make the same impact in the Championship as their compatriot Carvalho did.

‘I’m happy to be here’

Here is Silva sharing a message on his personal Instagram where he states that he is looking forward to playing at the City Ground.

The Reds will be hoping that Silva can make an impact in the Championship next season. He certainly has the technical ability to be a success. He just needs to ensure that he adapts to the physicality of the division quickly.

With Portuguese duo Carvalho and Tobias Figueiredo already at the club, he should have no problem settling in. If recent speculation is to be believed, then he may have even more familiar faces joining him.
