Nottingham Forest have this morning announced on their official website that Karim Ansarifard has departed the club.
The Iranian international has penned permanent terms to sign for Qatari outfit Al-Sailiya and leaves after just eight months at the club.
The 2019/20 campaign has looked like being a big one for the striker.
Daryl Murphy looks set to depart, whilst Tyler Walker could still leave on loan once again.
That would have left Ansarifard to battle with Lewis Grabban for the striking spot in Sabri Lamouchi’s team.
That won’t be the case now, however, and the lively frontman departs after scoring two goals in 12 outings for the Reds.
Forest will now have a requirement for a striker.
With 46 league games to come in a gruelling campaign, it would be somewhat risky to go with Grabban and Walker as the only two striking options.
Some Reds supporters have taken to Twitter to offer their take on the Ansarifard departure.
The reactions are mixed.
Although the 29-year-old didn’t set the league alight during his time with the club, some would still have liked him to stick around for next season.
Others simply aren’t fazed and look forward to seeing who is replacement will be.
Here is a selection of tweets from Forest supporters following the news that Ansarifard has headed for pastures new:
Shame that but good luck to him

That’s actually shocked me, especially before getting a new striker in, he’s another we didn’t really get to see what he could do with a good run in the team, hopefully we’ve got something pretty good lined up 🙄

Had no problem keeping him as he looked like he had something to offer towards the end of the season.
But if we can get a good replacement in then i will be more than happy.

Good luck Karim

Good luck to him. Decent player and nice bloke. Regardless of other moves you could easily imagine him still having a role. His departure has to suggest one significant arrival, maybe more or the chance for one of the fringe strikers now. Interesting times. ATB Karim 💪❤️

Vydra please then as that will prevent him scoring against us wherever he goes otherwise or we forgive Dwight Gayle if we got him both available if you believe what you read either be great addition

I really thought he had a big part to play this year

Rather him not be here if he doesn’t want to be here. Another striker now please
— Owen Summers (@owensummers) July 12, 2019
Criminal how little he was used. Should have at the very least been ahead of Murphy in the pecking order.

Karim no. Please think about this. We love you.

Announce a striker then

Genuinely don’t understand it. Was finally finding his footing and looked good towards the end of the season. Need to get a striker in now and a good quality one at that.
