Nottingham Forest suffered mixed fortunes during their pre-season trip to Greece.
A 3-0 win over Atromitos on Saturday was followed up by a 3-0 defeat to Champions League hopefuls Olympiacos.
Forest prepare to face Crystal Palace on home soil tomorrow night; with supporters hoping to catch a glimpse of the club’s six new signings.
One player who was at the City Ground prior to the summer will be hoping to show supporters what he can do too.
Arvin Appiah is a youngster with bags of potential.
The 18-year-old was thrust into first-team action last season by Martin O’Neill, but at a time when results weren’t going Forest’s way.
An academy graduate, Appiah has the pace to burn and the skills to mesmerise.
He was introduced as a half-time substitute against Olympiacos and shone during the second period.
Despite trailing by three goals he was probing and perhaps more crucially he wanted to get on the ball.
When the going gets tough, Forest need players to stand up and be counted. Okay, it was only pre-season, but it shows a mature trait in Appiah’s locker.
Some supporters have suggested that Appiah might be loaned out this season.
Hopefully, that won’t be the case because the flying winger is showing pre-season form that suggests he is ready.
Ahead of a 46 game season Forest need all of the squad to contribute. Appiah might not start ahead of Albert Adomah every game, but he is am extremely good option to have within the squad.
The 2019/20 campaign could be a breakthrough campaign for the England youth international.
If he stays fit and earns himself plenty of game time, he might just prove to be the ace in Sabri Lamouchi’s pack this season.
