Nottingham Forest are reportedly revisiting the possibility of signing striker Abel Hernandez, according to Nottinghamshire Live.

The 28-year-old is without a club since leaving CSKA Moscow earlier this month.

Last season was a bit of a disaster for the Uruguayan striker. Injuries to his knee and hip restricted him to just three goals in 14 appearances.

Hernandez has 11 goals from 29 caps for his country and actually boasts a decent record in the Championship.

From 2014 to 2018 he played for Hull City, scoring 39 goals in 110 appearances, with 28 of those notches coming in the second tier.

It is thought that Hernandez has several offers on the table including ones from Turkey and Qatar.

This isn’t the first time Forest have held interest in the frontman. Nottinghamshire Live suggests that the club wanted the player last summer and in January.

The Seat Pitch Summary

Hernandez wouldn’t be a bad signing for Forest but his injury record would certainly make some supporters question the move.

He hasn’t played frequent football for the best part of 18 months and he would need to prove his fitness to the Reds.

Forest’s squad is sizeable already and any players who arrive will need to make an immediate impact.

If a deal is to be struck, perhaps a deal similar to that of Sammy Ameobi’s could work.

Give Hernandez a one-year deal and make him earn another one. That way, if he does break down with injury again, Forest won’t be out of pocket a year down the line.

The Reds could definitely do with some reinforcements in attack. Indeed, if Sabri Lamouchi can get Hernandez fit and firing he could prove a solid free transfer.
