Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn has joined Premier League outfit Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee, according to the club’s official website.

The 24-year-old had been heavily linked with a switch to Bramall Lane in recent weeks and a deal has now been completed.

Osborn leaves after a long association with the Reds which saw him graduate from the club’s academy and play 230 games for Forest.

The undoubted high from his time in the Garibaldi red came in 2015 when his stoppage-time goal handed Forest a 2-1 win over Derby County at Pride Park.

Although the official fee is undisclosed by the club, Nottinghamshire Live have reported a fee in the region of £3.5 million had been agreed.

Osborn would have been out of contract next summer and Forest have opted to cash in now in order to receive a fee.

Given his rise to prominence from the club’s academy, Osborn has naturally proved a popular figure with the club’s supporters.

He has played in a number of positions for the club, under a plethora of different managers.
