Gboly Ariyibi appears to be heading for the exits at Nottingham Forest and will depart as one of the most disappointing signings of recent times.
The Daily Mail claim that both Rotherham United and Oxford United are potential destinations for the 24-year-old winger.
They report that both Rotherham and Oxford have “expressed interest” in the winger. It remains to be seen whether this ‘interest’ develops into a serious approach for the player.

Similarly to speculation about Jason Cummings‘ future, this is arguably one of the least surprising stories of the summer.
Having arrived from Chesterfield for £500,000 over two years ago, he would’ve expected to be playing a key part in the first team by now.
However, Ariyibi’s move to the City Ground has been a nightmare for the winger. He has failed to make a single first team appearance for the Reds.
The American spent last season on loan in Scotland with Motherwell.

This was the third loan move he has made since joining the Reds, but he’s failed to make a positive impact at any of his loan clubs.
Waste
Milton Keynes Dons were the first to give him a go in the 2017/18 campaign. He did make 22 appearances for the Dons, contributing three goals.
They abandoned that experiment in January 2018, allowing another switch to be made to Northampton Town.

So, Ariyibi has had three opportunities to make an impression elsewhere since joining the Reds, but hasn’t been able to take advantage.
It isn’t too often that a signing doesn’t make a single appearance for their new club.
It’s now looking increasingly likely that he’ll be leaving the City Ground with that record still intact.
