Michael Dawson has told Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast on Talk Sport that Nottingham Forest are ready for the 2019/20 campaign.

The central defender was speaking to Laura Woods, who was standing in for Brazil and former Arsenal star Ray Parlour earlier today.

Dawson will hope to stay fit this season after missing the majority of 2018/19 with a hamstring injury.

He started Forest’s 2-2 draw with Real Sociedad on Friday and feels the Reds are now ready for Saturday’s opener against West Brom.

Dawson told Talk Sport: “Pre-season never gets any easier. Obviously, with the gaffer going it’s been a bit different.

“We had five gruelling days of training at the start and then on Friday, Martin was sacked and replaced.”

Dawson made just ten appearances for the Reds last season and he has been impressed with the new manager so far.

He continued: “The new gaffer has been fantastic. He has worked hard to get his style of play and new ways of playing across and things are looking good.”

Forest have added six new additions to their squad this summer and Dawson has been particularly impressed with Tiago Silva.

“Tiago (Silva) looks a great little player. The way he gets on the ball and looks to play it, he looks a great addition,” said the Forest stalwart.

The Reds will aim to improve on last season’s ninth-placed finish when the new season gets underway on Saturday evening.

The Seat Pitch Summary

These comments from Dawson will offer Forest supporters an indication that things are going well on the training ground.

It seems as though the central defender and his Forest team-mates have enjoyed working with the new manager and are raring to go.

His thoughts on new arrival Tiago Silva will also delight the supporters. The Portuguese performer arrives on Trentside with lots of potential and hopefully, he will get off to a good start.

Dawson will hope to feature more this season. He has just one year remaining on his contract and he will want to contribute towards a good season for the Reds.
