Nottingham Forest are close to securing the capture of Wolves forward Rafa Mir, according to Nottinghamshire Live.

A medical is set to take place in the next 24 hours and the Spaniard would arrive on loan for the 2018/19 campaign.

The 22-year-old will be ideal competition for Lewis Grabban, with Forest’s attacking ranks somewhat short of firepower.

Mir has scored five goals in 10 games for Spain’s Under-21s and was part of their squad that won the European Championship’s in the summer.

Last season he went on loan to Las Palmas, where he scored seven goals in 19 starts and 11 substitute appearances, providing cover out wide on occasions.

Mir arrived at Molineux in 2018 from Valencia. He cost Wolves £2 million (Birmingham Live) but has failed to make the grade in Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-team.

The arrival of the ex-Barcelona youngster could allow Tyler Walker the chance to move out on loan once again.

The Seat Pitch Summary

Mir might not seem a tremendous signing on the face of things but Forest might have pulled off a coup.

Supporters certainly shouldn’t let his statistics put them off.

Okay so Mir notched just seven goals for Las Palmas last season, but he was playing out wide for a large portion of the campaign.

Forest fans would be wise to see Mir in action before passing judgement as there is clearly a player in there.

The Spain Under-21 outfit blew away the field at the European Championships during the summer and Mir was deemed good enough to be a part of that squad.

Lewis Grabban will take on the mantle of scoring goals once again. Forest needed competition for him and Mir will provide decent backup for the Reds’ number one goalscorer.
