Nottingham Forest are ‘keen’ to sign SM Caen goalkeeper Brice Samba, according to Soccerlink

The 25-year-old is highly-rated at the Stade Michel d’Ornano by Rui Almeida, but he may have to accept the fact that the goalkeeper could leave this summer.

According to French website Soccerlink, the €4m-rated goalkeeper is attracting interest from the Reds. Sabri Lamouchi is keen to add to his squad ahead of the upcoming season.

Samba featured heavily for Les Vikings last season, but was unable to prevent them from being relegated from Ligue 1. Despite it being a disappointing campaign for the team, Samba was one of the club’s better performers.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Forest have Arijanet Muric, Costel Pantilimon and Jordan Smith as their current goalkeeping options for next season. Stephen Henderson was released earlier on in the summer, whilst Luke Steele has been told he has no part to play next season.

Samba began his youth career with spells at Pacy Vallée-d’Eure and Madeleine Evreux before joining Le Havre. He went on to have spells at Marseille and AS Nancy before joining SM Caen two years ago. He still has the potential to develop into a top goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old is under contract at the Stade Michel d’Ornano for another two years, but the Reds aren’t the only side to have registered an interest. He has also been linked with a move to Rennes and Montpellier.

It’s fair to say that this report has come as a surprise. The Reds are already well-stocked in the goalkeeping department.

If the 25-year-old was to arrive at the City Ground, surely one of the current goalkeepers would be going the other way?

Pantilimon has already been linked with a move to Olympiacos this summer. He may not fancy being second choice to Muric. This latest report will only exacerbate speculation surrounding his future at the club.
