Nottingham Forest have completed a deal to sign Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal, the club has confirmed on their official website.
The 27-year-old has officially signed for an undisclosed fee, although it is thought that Forest have paid around £2 million to secure his services.
The Reds have moved for a right-back following news last week that Tendayi Darikwa faces a prolonged spell on the sidelines.
Matty Cash filled the void at the weekend but the arrival of Jenkinson will add some more balance to the back four.
The one-time England international leaves Arsenal following eight-years at the Emirates Stadium, having signed from Charlton Athletic in 2011. He has signed a three-year contract on Trentside.
He failed to really establish a first-team place with the Gunners, playing just 70 games during his long spell in North London.
Jenkinson featured eight times in Unai Emery’s team during 2018/19 and arrives at the City Ground having played a sizeable part in the club’s pre-season campaign.
Following his arrival, Forest fans have taken to Twitter to welcome their new player to the club.
The majority of supporters seem happy that a replacement for Darikwa has been identified prior to the transfer window slamming shut.
Here is a selection of tweets from Forest fans after news that Jenkinson has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal on Trentside:
That’s better more English players with experience
