The 27-year-old midfielder is expected to have flown in last night ahead of signing a season-long loan deal with the Reds.
The Reds aren’t the only side to have been linked with the midfielder. Both Brentford and Reading are also believed to have been interested.
Bostock’s career began at Crystal Palace, where he was once one of the most highly-rated young players in this country. However, his move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2008 didn’t work out and he hasn’t been able to live up to his potential since.
He most recently joined Toulouse last summer, signing a three-year deal at the Ligue 1 club. However, he only made 17 appearances last season, with one of these coming against Sabri Lamouchi’s Rennes side.
‘I am not worried’
The 27-year-old now seems set to move again, and Lamouchi will be hoping he can make an impact at the City Ground. Having failed to re-sign Jack Colback this summer, the Reds did need another midfield option of that type.
Interestingly, Bostock has spoken about potentially returning to England before.
There’s no doubt that there will be a significant amount of interest in how he performs for the Reds, if the deal does get over the line.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Will Unwin from the Guardian last summer, Bostock said: “People may feel like if I came back to England I may need to prove something but I am not worried.
“Maybe a few years ago I would feel worried and that I would need to prove myself, that i was this wonderkid but I don’t need to prove any of that any more.
“If I came back I would just want to do the best job I could for the club I play for and enjoy playing in England in front of my friends and family in the most watched league in the world.”
