Nottingham Forest are to hold discussions with Newcastle United this morning regarding a return to the club for Jack Colback, according to the Northern Echo.
It has appeared all summer that the man once dubbed the ‘Ginger Pirlo’ would earn a reprieve at the Magpies, but Steve Bruce is now willing to allow him to depart.
The report suggests that Martin O’Neill’s departure had muddied the waters somewhat, but confirms that Sabri Lamouchi is still keen to add Colback.

The 29-year-old has adhered himself to the City Ground faithful during his previous two loan spells. He had made 55 appearances for the club and became a mainstay in the team.
Forest’s squad is somewhat bloated right now and several players are likely to depart before today’s deadline.

The window for League One and Two clubs is extended until the end of the month and more are expected to follow before then.
A chance to add Colback to Lamouchi’s ranks shouldn’t be one that is missed from a Forest perspective.
He came second in last season’s Player of the Year poll and is a fresher pair of legs that Ben Watson who started in midfield for the Reds on Saturday.

After two loan spells at the City Ground, Forest will finally hope to land their man on a permanent basis this time around.
Colback is, however, paid £35,000-a-week, according to Spotrac, and an initial loan wouldn’t be completely beyond the realms of possibility.
