Nottingham Forest striker Daryl Murphy is being courted by three League One sides after being deemed surplus to requirements at the City Ground.
According to East Anglian Daily Times, Burton Albion, Doncaster Rovers and Bolton Wanderers have expressed a desire in signing the target man.
Murphy went on the pre-season tour to Spain with Sabri Lamouchi’s squad but was told along with Luke Steele, Michael Hefele and Liam Bridcutt that he wasn’t part of his plans ahead of the Greece trip.
The 36-year-old was a regular in the team under Martin O’Neill last season. During 2018/19 he scored six goals in 32 outings.
Murphy was signed for £2 million from Newcastle back in 2017 (Nottinghamshire Live). In 60 appearances for the Reds, he has netted 13 times in total and registered three assists.
It is perhaps surprising that Lamouchi hasn’t offered Murphy an olive branch.
Tyler Walker has been allowed to join Lincoln City on loan, leaving just Lewis Grabban and Rafa Mir as the club’s two striking options.
The League One and League Two loan windows do stretch to the end of August so a deal might not be done before today’s Championship deadline.
At League One level Murphy should be an attractive signing and he proved last season that with the right service he can still score goals.
