Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback is not a target for Nottingham Forest on deadline day, according to the Nottingham Post.
This is contrary to reports from the Northern Echo who this morning reported that the Reds were set to hold discussions with the Magpies regarding a return to the club for the 29-year-old.

The man dubbed the ‘Ginger Pirlo’ during his time at the City Ground was hoping for a chance to impress at St James’ Park under the management of Steve Bruce. However, the former Sheffield Wednesday manager is now willing to allow the midfielder to depart.
He could still be on the move before this afternoon’s deadline, but he won’t be arriving at the City Ground according to the Nottingham Post. The Magpies are set to name their 25-man squad for the Premier League by the end of the week.
Colback will want to move elsewhere if he feels he might not make the cut.

It’s believed that the finances involved in any potential deal was the main reason the Reds have not pursued the midfielder. Colback is on hefty wages at St James’ Park which the Reds wouldn’t have been able to afford to take on.
‘Not bothered’, ‘Gutted’
Sabri Lamouchi will now turn his attention to other midfield targets. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see another midfielder arrive before the deadline. John Bostock is believed to be close to joining the Reds.

After two successful loan spells at the City Ground, Forest will be disappointed to have failed to re-sign Colback this summer. A number of supporters have been having their say on Twitter this afternoon…
